Paradise here we come……

Sheree Marris and her energetic team are thrilled to be a part of the WhiteSands development, located in one of the most pristine natural environments in Melanesia. Led by Aquatic Scientist and former Young Australian of the Year, we have a wealth of expertise ranging from environmental and marine science, sustainability and communications through to world class underwater photographers and cinematographers.

‘We were impressed with the way in which the development has been designed around the breathtaking natural features of the area. The mammoth banyan trees have become a focal point of the greens. Their elegant tangle of branches hint at an ancient natural environment, while freshwater ponds and wetlands silently meander through the course promoting a sense of harmony and calm.

All of this unfolds to creamy white sands framed by breathtaking turquoise waters. Brightly coloured coral gardens decorated the shallows and slowly lead into the ‘Two Faces Abyss’ – an imposing underwater canyon fashioned from two sheer rock walls that opens out to an awe inspiring rock bommie.

‘We will be working with the dedicated team at WhiteSands to explore ways of preserving and promoting these unique environmental values while creating innovative  eco-tourism experiences that will add an energising new dimension to the first class resort and golfing facility planned for the area.  Initial ideas include eco-trails and unique turtle conservation, breeding programs and experiences.

Where to next?

The next step is to develop in consultation with WhiteSands, a sustainability strategy which will link in with the existing development principles. The strategy will include;

• Investigating ways to ensure minimal impact on the local environment whilst maximising the social and financial benefits to the local community.
• Identifying programs to preserve and enhance the natural values of the resort.
• Creating unique world-class eco-tourism experiences for our residents and visitors.
• Imbedding an ethos of sustainability into the development through day to day operations.

We are eager to consolidate our ideas and through this promote, protect and celebrate the stunning landscape in and around the WhiteSands development and look forward to keeping you updated on our progress.

Boral plays a key role in massive resort project

Boral is a key supper of materials and hardware to construct the 400-hectare Whitesands resort.
